One of the biggest surprises I encountered in my first year at a T-14 law school was not how difficult it was or how talented my peers were. Instead, I was shocked at the number of things offered me for free. It started off with catered meals, ice cream socials, and merchandise. It continued with financial advisors, free professional wear, and career coaches.
As someone who has not always been great at asking for help, I also realized I am not great at accepting it. I decided to embrace the discomfort and accept any help I was offered, which allowed me to thrive. Law school is hard, and resources do not alleviate all my challenges, but they make the task much less challenging. So, if you’re offered something, whether a free tote bag or an introduction to a potential employer, take it. You deserve it!
